Teeth, gums and oral cavity
At the check-up we examine your teeth, gums and oral cavity.
We also look at the periodontium, the tissues that hold a tooth in the jaw.
Position of the teeth and jaws
We check how the upper and lower teeth meet and how the teeth stand next to each other.
Dental prostheses
If you have a dental prosthesis, for example a crown or a removable denture, we check it too.
Oral hygiene
We also look at your oral hygiene and at how you clean your teeth.
Professional tooth cleaning is a separate treatment: dental hygiene. We describe what it involves in the article How dental hygiene works.
Record and plan
We record the state of the teeth and gums in the KPE and PBI indices: KPE describes the state of the individual teeth, PBI the state of the gums.
If needed, we prepare a new treatment plan for you. The record of the check-up is kept in your health records.
Comprehensive initial examination
The comprehensive initial examination goes into more detail. It also includes the anamnesis, that is questions about your health, an examination of the jaws, the CPITN index of the tissues around the teeth, an intraoral X-ray and a treatment plan.
For children we carry out a comprehensive initial paediatric dental examination, which also follows the development of the teeth.
What it costs
A preventive dental check-up is free with us.
The comprehensive initial examination costs 50 €, for children 50 €.
You will find the prices of other examinations on the Examinations and preventive dentistry page.
